iPhone — Available Today for Those of us Who Can’t Wait

So it’s here, it’s finally here, the Apple iPhone. Oh dear Buddha, would you take a look at that!

Apple iPhone

And be sure not to miss the Keynote speech. Wow!

Gah, I can’t wait… How much longer? Let’s check the countdown. 149 DAYS!!! And that’s until it’s released in the US.

They say it will be ready for ‘Asia’ in 2008; that’s next year. This year is less than 20 days old… I can’t wait, I think I’m going to have to drop out of school, go back home to the states, just for this phone. I’ll work at McDonalds, no, Taco Bell, I’ll never work at McDonalds, just to get it.

I’ll just have to make one out of paper, this is too painful.

The people that made the plans for the paper phone also run a whole website dedicated to free paper toys you can print out and make yourself; good stuff. I should have known all those old-skewl Bauhaus projects would come in useful some day!

Actually, since I mentioned school… Starting final tests for my first year right now, and as a result there will most likely be little to no updates to the blog. I’m still alive, so far, don’t worry, I’ll be back soon-ish.

When can I get the iPhone from Apple in Australia? I live in Sydney and no one knows anything about availability of this phone. Can you tell me if it is available and where I can get it from? If I buy it from the USA on the internet, will it work in Australia?
    Xandro.

That’s a good question, but frankly I really don’t know the answer. In the speech, there was no mention of Australia.

As for buying the phone from America and using it in Australia, I don’t think that will work. Even if the provider uses the same technology for their network as Cingular does in the US, Apple apparently had to work very closely with Cingular to make changes to their network to make the iPhone work, so without those extra changes, I don’t think the iPhone will work in Australia until it is officially supported. :/
